⚽Various Tactical Actions in Football
Football tactics can be fundamentally divided into three areas:
Individual Tactics
Group Tactics
Team Tactics
The specific application of these three areas during a game is referred to as match tactics.
Individual Tactics
Individual tactics involve all offensive and defensive one-on-one situations. They form the foundation for tactical understanding and should be a central part of training, especially for young players. All advanced tactical strategies build on individual tactics. According to coaching legend Wiel Coerver, a player should only move on to group tactical actions after mastering individual tactics.
In one-on-one situations, a player cannot hide and must take responsibility, which young players need to learn early.
Group Tactics
Group tactics encompass all planned defensive and offensive actions carried out by two or more players. Offensive examples include the one-two pass or playing through the third man. Defensive examples include shifting the back four.
Team Tactics
Team tactics involve the coordinated execution of all tactical processes. Key concepts here are formation and playing system, which are closely linked to team tactics. Effective team tactics, a clear playing philosophy, and an appropriate system can help manage the complexity of football, which is unmatched by any other team sport.
In addition to team, group, and individual tactics, it is crucial to consider whether your team is in possession of the ball or if the opposing team has it. Therefore, tactical planning and actions must always take into account offensive tactics (when your team has the ball) and defensive tactics (when the opposing team has the ball), as well as the four phases of a football game.
Conclusion
The combination of individual, group, and team tactics, tailored to the specific game situation, is crucial for success in soccer. By systematically integrating these elements, the complexity of the game can be managed, and players' tactical understanding can be continuously improved.
